Be part of our sustainability team providing some of the most progressive and influential work that our Practice undertakes.
The Sustainability Certification Manager is responsible for all sustainability assessments carried out by the Practice and for leading some assessments. Assessments are mostly BREEAM, but will also include HQM, LEED, WELL, Fitwel and potentially NABERS (dependent on NABERS experience).
Further responsibilities include overseeing the monitoring and implementation of projects with bespoke targets, advising clients and design teams throughout. There may also be the opportunity to carry out complimentary services to achieve certification, for example whole life cycle carbon analysis and facilitating design team workshops on climate change adaption and material efficiency.
The Sustainability Certification Manager is also responsible for developing strategies for training and development of junior assessors, providing guidance to enable them to fulfil their roles to a high standard and monitoring the quality of their work. This includes providing training for new members of the team.
They will also develop and implement management processes to support successful delivery, oversee the quality and profitability of all assessments carried out by the Practice, win work by preparing fee offers for Sustainability Assessments and share knowledge across the practice.

This position will be based in either the London or Cambridge office.
You will have
To be successful as Sustainability Certification Manager, you will have an engaging approach, good strategic skills, and an analytical mind. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, complemented by great organisational skills.
You will enjoy developing lasting relationships with clients and collaborators and colleagues and have a passion for building design, and excellent knowledge of all sustainability assessments.
You will possess an excellent understanding of how sustainable outcomes can be achieved on different project types. You will be able to develop a project brief, as well as defend and advocate for the sustainability agenda within a project team.
Plus you will have a healthy mix of the following:
- Experienced sustainability assessor in the built environment
- Qualified BREEAM Assessor
- Qualified BREEAM Accredited Professional
- Knowledge of BREEAM and other environmental assessment methods such as Home Quality Mark or LEED, WELL, Fitwel, Living Building Challenge etc.
- Experience of managing and training people
- Experience of managing multiple projects
- Experience in a client facing role
- Able to prepare bids and fee proposals
- Experience of the whole construction process
