The Repair Technician/Bench Technician job which is both varied and challenging and sits within a friendly supportive team. Generally, the role includes testing, fault finding to component level and repairing products that have been returned as part of major contract for international retailer/distributor of power tools and lawn-care equipment.
Specifically, fault finding and repair to electrically & petrol powered equipment. This comprises construction power tools such as drills, saws and sanders etc. and lawncare equipment such as mowers, hedge trimmers and strimmers etc.
Read and understand repair manuals, schematics, and circuit diagrams. Fault finding and repair at printed circuit board level. Raising requisitions for replacement components as required. Assisting in supporting an international network of approved repair centres. Properly using hand tools & test equipment. Producing fault reports and inputting correct data into the Repairs database. Updating as new, returned electrical/electronic & mechanical field and bench type instrumentation.
Working effectively as a key part of a close-knit team to achieve mutual goals.
37.5 hours per week and includes 28 days’ holiday (including bank holidays)
You will have
To be successful as Repair Technician/Bench Technician you will ideally hold vocational qualifications in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical discipline; OR suitable testing, maintenance & repair experience. Previous experience in a similar technical role. Conversant with the use of fault-finding devices such as multimeters and oscilloscopes. Experience of fault finding at 'component level'. Ability to read and understand manuals, schematics, and circuit diagrams. Ability to fault-find, and diagnose root cause. Working experience within a product test environment. Experience of producing fault reports and inputting correct data into ERP software. Good communication skills, written and conversational. Enthusiastic and a team player.
