The Mechanical Safety Engineer job itself for a Mechanical Engineer in the Product Safety department at the Uxbridge site. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of aerospace product portfolios through investigations resulting in corrective and proactive continuous improvement of designs and processes.
This includes generating design concepts in line with regulatory and customer requirements and in line with the engineering specification, including associated international and military standards as well as company requirements. It also requires the production of commercially viable product definition information (PDI) including 3D models, detail, and assembly engineering drawings.
Effective workload planning, generation of technical calculations and corresponding reports, design reviews and presentations is also required to support the development of the design. As is the necessity to work effectively with internal and external customers to achieve the optimum design through in-depth consultation with all project stakeholders.
Mentoring and training of junior personnel may also be required, depending on skills and experience.

You will have
To be successful as Mechanical Safety Engineer you will have a good mix of the following:
- IMechE accredited Mechanical Engineering Degree Aerospace Engineering Degree or equivalent
- 1st or 2.1 from Russell Group/Redbrick University is desirable
- Problem solving using 8D techniques.
- Generate competent Requirements, Technical Evaluations & Trade Studies.
- Hand calculations to support engineering justifications.
- Knowledge of finite element techniques using software.
- Know GD&T to ASME Y14.5 and associated standards.
- Significant expertise in design for assembly and manufacture
- Ideally design experience in aerospace/defence e.g. ISO 15288
