The IT Support Technician role itself which sits within a supportive IT & Telecoms department which offers technical support to all business units and takes responsibility for ensuring safety and efficiency of IT systems. The IT Support Technician role contributes towards the day-to-day delivery of our IT Support service to our users. The primary function is to provide quality and timely support across the entire Company, principally face-to-face but also through phone, email and remote assistance, always maintaining service quality, accuracy, timeliness and client satisfaction.
As IT Support Technician your main duties will be:
- Supporting our users in conjunction with your colleagues in the IT and Telecoms Department
- Providing high quality IT Support for all hardware and software queries - this includes service quality; accuracy; timeliness to ensure prompt, reliable delivery of resolutions to our users
- First response answering, logging and resolving support requests - using either phone, remote log-in, email or face-to-face.
- Supporting a wide range of software products including but not limited to Windows 7 & Windows 10, Microsoft Office 365, Windows Server 2012 & later versions, Exchange 2010, Exchange Online, IP Telephone Systems, Apple iOS
- Supporting a wide range of hardware including but not limited to: Laptops, Desktops, Servers, IP Telephones, Mobile Phones, Tablets, Printers, Copiers
- Building or upgrading of equipment from scratch or using existing data images
- Installing new equipment and software for clients and assisting with familiarisation
- Some server administration - including, but not limited to: Active Directory; Microsoft Exchange
- Preventative maintenance and health checks on the network
- Checking network backups and changing/filing backup media
- Initiating and progressing support calls with suppliers
- Checks and management of archive materials in their multiple formats
- Dealing with the correct disposal of failed or redundant equipment
- Auditing client machines for both hardware and software and keeping appropriate records
This is a Full time, permanent position, with a nominal 37 hours per week, 8:30 – 17:00 Monday Thursday and 8:30 – 16:30 on Fridays. This is an office-based post in Bracknell.
You will have
To be successful as IT Support Technician you will have:
- Technical understanding of IT and Telecoms systems, including but not limited to: Operating system installation – e.g. from image or from scratch onto brand new machine (currently Windows 10) o Operating system support (Windows 7, 10) o Application installation and support (Microsoft Office 2016, 365) o Server management – there is some server management involved in this role (Windows Server 2012, 2016, Exchange 2010, Exchange Online – including knowledge of setting up users, groups and their relevant permissions in Active Directory) o IP Telephone System (Splicecom) o Mobile devices (Apple iOS including backup and restore)
- A strong attention to Helpdesk customer service ensuring the delivery of timely, quality IT Support
- Ability to analyse information in a wide variety of delivery formats and make rational decisions, especially when fault finding under pressure and/or problem solving
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with all levels of staff and customers
- Patient and understanding personality
- A strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines. including being able to manage a busy workload and prioritise tasks
- Eagerness to achieve targets
- Able to work on own initiative but also to recognise when to ask for help

Salary Depending on Experience £22K-£24K + Package
