The Fire Alarm Engineer/Life Safety Engineer role itself involves working independently to service, maintain, fault-find, and remedially repair fire alarm systems, smoke ventilation (AOV), and emergency lighting. You’ll be diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and ensuring high standards of safety and compliance across a variety of sites. This role includes planned preventative maintenance, reactive call-outs, and supporting major projects alongside installation teams. The work is varied, technical, and rewarding, with responsibilities that allow your expertise to shine in helping protect lives and property. This is a service-led position requiring excellent problem-solving skills, digital reporting, and Routinely participating in an on-call rota, and overtime when required.
You will have
To be successful as Fire Alarm Engineer/Life Safety Engineer, you will have a healthy mix of the following:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fire safety, with proven service, maintenance, fault-finding, and remedial work within commercial premises
- Strong working knowledge of BS 5839-1, BS 5266-1, and BS 5306 standards
- Experience with leading fire alarm manufacturers such as Kentec, Advanced, Morley, and C-TEC, alongside wireless systems (EMS, Hyfire, EDA, Apollo)
- Hands-on experience with smoke ventilation (AOV), emergency lighting, and portable fire extinguishers (training can be provided if needed)
- Full UK driving licence is essential
- Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check (as work includes schools)
- Knowledge of system installation support, including upgrades and commissioning (desirable)
