The Estimator job itself will focus on preparing detailed quotes and managing the financial aspects of a variety of building projects, from refurbishments and extensions to new builds up to £1 million. In this office-based role, with occasional site visits, you will work closely with architects, surveyors, suppliers, and clients, ensuring accurate costing and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining profitability while rigorously adhering to industry standards and regulations. More specifically:
- Preparing quotes and estimates for a variety of building works
- Managing project finances from quotation to completion
- Carrying out interim valuations and final accounts
- Costing variations and ensuring profitability
- Attending site visits and liaising with contractors, consultants, and clients
- Ensuring estimates reflect current building practices and regulations
You will have
To be successful as an Estimator, you will have a healthy mix of the following:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Estimator or Quantity Surveyor role
- Up-to-date knowledge of construction estimating and building regulations
- Previous experience in public sector projects is a big plus
- Familiarity with Schedules of Rates would be very helpful
- Relevant qualifications or professional memberships (RICS/CIOB/etc.) desirable
- A full UK driving licence
