The Environmental Clerk of Works/Environmental Consultant role itself offers a dynamic mix of on-site environmental monitoring, compliance auditing, and technical reporting. You will have
To be successful as Environmental Clerk of Works/Environmental Consultant, you will have a healthy mix of the following:
- A relevant degree in Environmental Management or a related discipline, with a preference for those holding further education qualifications such as an MSc (desirable but not essential).
- A full UK driver’s licence.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Confidence working outdoors on construction sites and in team environments.
- Good time management skills and accurate record-keeping capabilities.
Desirable skills for more senior candidates include experience in advising contractors, understanding environmental legislation, and building effective relationships with project stakeholders. Membership of the Association of Environmental Clerks of Works (AECoW) and a current CSCS card are advantageous, alongside knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as CAR, SuDS, and EIA.
