The Solutions Manager (Energy Manager/Consultant) job itself which is an exciting opportunity for an experienced energy engineer and manager to join this leading engineering and consulting company at the forefront of the energy and carbon reduction; based from London, Birmingham, or Manchester including field-based and fully flexible work from home #WFH #WFA for the right candidate.

You will lead, manage and be accountable for the output of Solutions Engineers and technical specialists within a North or South region, ensuring a high-quality delivery of all services and products within agreed timescales. More specifically:

Team Management

  • To manage and continually develop a team of Solutions Engineers to deliver departmental objectives and provide service excellence
  • To ensure that the team is performing to a high standard in delivering the Solutions suite of products in a time and resource-efficient manner
  • Driving performance through motivating and inspiring the Solutions Engineers, leading by example at all times through exhibiting behaviours and leadership
  • Create and oversee a development plan for each member of the team, ensuring continued engagement and promoting staff retention

Service Delivery Management

  • Being accountable for and managing efficient delivery of the products in accordance with the notified standards and agreed levels of customer service.
  • To ensure retention of existing clients and to assist Sales and Account Managers to sell related products by providing relevant commercial and technical support
  • Direct delivery of products within his/her specialist role (see items 1 to 5 in the Knowledge, Skills and Experience section)
  • Drive continued promotion of the wider Solutions products by the team
  • To undertake QA to ensure the peer review and quality assurance that the product requires
  • Work with the wider business to improve internal processes ensuring optimal client experience, retention rates and company reputation

Financial Management

  • Managing the revenue and performance against budget, short and long-term forecasting and profitability of the group of Solutions Engineers/technical specialists & ensure timely and accurate invoicing

Continuous Improvement

  • To liaise and coordinate with the mirror geographical Manager to maximise efficiencies of resource and to notify Senior Management of any risks to the business
  • Develop recommendations and lead action plans to support continuous process and service improvement
  • To keep updated with any external developments in the Market and recommend new products

You will have

To be successful as Solutions Manager (Energy Manager/Consultant), you will have a healthy mix of the following:

  • Engineering or relevant technical at degree at Chartered level or higher desirable
  • Chartered Engineer Status
  • Experience of leading, coaching and developing a team of people
  • Experience of working within an energy management/energy consultancy environment
  • Previous experience working in a business-to-business consultancy, where you have performed the role of ‘trusted advisor’, providing support, advice, and delivery to a very high standard in a specialised technical discipline such as electrical engineering
  • Detailed understanding of utility sector and current legislation relating to the role
  • Excellent working knowledge of legislation and services related to energy, for example, energy management, site surveys, feasibility studies, CCA, CCL, SECR, UK ETS, CDP, TCFD, and ESOS
  • Experience of public sector reporting (e.g., ERIC, HEFCE) and/or specialist sector reporting (e.g. GRESB)
  • Significant experience of measurement and verification to IPMVP or equivalent
  • Significant experience in energy and water management, from identification of savings to delivery of successful reduction programmes
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in a relevant specialist skill or scheme
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to develop, and maintain, complex client relationships  
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with experience of analysing and interpreting large amounts of complex data, and communicating findings in report format
  • Excellent project management skills to ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Relevant management experience or demonstration of abilities to develop such skills
  • A proven ability to articulate technical information to non- technical clients and stakeholders
  • A strong understanding of financial management, including short and long-term forecasting and managing a budget
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Proficient user of the MS Office suite of products
  • Senior engineer project leading a small team of 2 or 3 on larger projects
  • Good understanding of the Solutions product range plus other products
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
