The Senior Hydraulic Modeller Hydrologist job itself where you will join a growing Flood Risk Management team of hydrologists, hydraulic modellers and environmental specialists delivering projects in the water and marine environment sectors. This role would be based from one of 3 offices: Aberdeen, Leeds or London and will be initially operating home working in line with government guidelines.
The role requires direct contact with clients and regulators working on a broad spectrum of challenging projects at local, regional and national scale. Our clients include regulators (e.g the Environment Agency), local government bodies, private developers and investors. The type of hydraulic modeling can vary from river, surface water, integrated catchment modelling, through to coastal inundation and water quality modelling. More specifically:
- Providing technical direction and leadership of FCERM projects
- Oversee quality control/assurance of hydrological and/or hydraulic modelling studies
- Write and review technical reports with the ability to convey clear and concise messaging from complex technical analysis
- Undertake presentations to existing and potential clients and stakeholders
- Supervision and mentorship of junior team members to build capability, share knowledge and best practice
- Take responsibility for workload supervision, resource planning and financial management of projects
- Support the writing of proposals or tender opportunities and deriving of fee estimates
- Develop/improve quality assurance processes in line with industry best practice
You will have
To be successful as Senior Hydraulic Modeller Hydrologist, you will be an enthusiastic and dynamic individual, who is proactive, solutions-focused and prides themselves on technical excellence.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject such as Engineering, Science, Geography, Environmental Science/Management or other relevant are of study
- Applied experience of 1D/2D hydraulic modelling of surface water drainage and watercourses, preferably with experience using TUFLOW and Flood Modeller
- Applied experience of hydrological modelling and analysis using ReFH and WINFAP for fluvial applications
- Applied experience interpreting technical results and explanation of the findings to non-technical audiences through a variety of communication methods
- Experience in deriving technical methodologies aligned with or steering industry guidance
- Experience of staff management or project management of small to medium projects
- Experience of bid writing, client relationship building and key account management
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of UK FCERM policy and legislation
- Experience or a desire to work on coastal flooding/erosion projects
- Experience or a desire to work on Water Framework Directive assessments
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and organisational skills
- A team player who values supporting and working with others, promoting a blame-free environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to exercise your own judgement and initiative
- Chartered status with ICE or CIWEM
