The Plant Manager job itself where you will be responsible for overseeing all operational activities at Saskatchewan facility.  The Plant Manager will be responsible for managing a team of employees and ensuring that the facility runs efficiently in a safe and healthy work environment. More specifically:

  • Ensuring all processing equipment is properly maintained and capable of working at its listed capacity to meet the company’s volume and quality objectives;
  • Ensuring the health and safety of all employees and visitors, including producers, truckers and other business partners;
  • Managing a team of employees to deliver on each facility’s operational and financial objectives;
  • Overseeing the receiving, weighing, grading, processing, handling and shipping of pulses and specialty crops;
  • Providing assistance, guidance, and training with regards to visual inspection of incoming deliveries to estimate grade and determine dockage;
  • Ensuring adherence to all company policies and procedures;
  • Developing a culture that fosters positive working relationships within the facility and with external stakeholders including producers, truckers and other business partners;
  • Collaborating and working together with team members ensuring complete flow of information to internal stakeholders;
  • Ensuring that the facilities and all equipment are clean and well-maintained;
  • Buying peas, lentils, canary seed, edible beans, chickpeas and other specialty crops from local producers;
  • Ensuring full compliance with all health and safety procedures;
  • Motivating all facility employees to provide friendly service to farmers and truckers delivering pulses and specialty crops;
  • Ensuring all employees are properly trained to operate grain processing equipment (including receiving, weighing, cleaning, handling, bagging and bulk loading) in an efficient and safe manner;
  • Overseeing the preparation and loading of export shipments in rail cars and containers according to company policies and industry best practises;
  • Operating facility control systems as required;
  • Ensuring the facility is clean, including sweeping, brushing down equipment and vacuuming any residue;
  • Overseeing the implementation of regular repair and maintenance programs;
  • Overseeing the implementation of any capital expansion programs including, but not limited to, the installation of new equipment (e.g. storage bins, processing equipment, bagging systems, etc.) and new buildings (including gravel, concrete foundations, columns, beams, roofing, etc.)

You will have

As Plant Manager, you will have:

  • 7+ years of grain handling or speciality crop industry experience
  • Strong business mindset with the ability to drive growth and volume
  • Strong people-management skills with the ability to motivate employees
  • Performance-driven with good cost-management skills
  • Mechanical ability to operate and maintain grain processing equipment
  • Capable of office-related administrative work, as required

NB Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge, skill and competence will be considered.
