The Environmental Test Team Lead job itself where you will be responsible for

support development and qualification of products within the Environmental Test function, leading a team of up to 5 Environmental Test Engineers and initiating and undertaking tasks to improve efficiency and quality of processes within, and services provided by, the department.

More specifically: Represent the test department's technical position at programme and design reviews held with both internal and external customers. Develop test programme plans, cost estimates, test schedules and qualification strategies in order to satisfy programme and customer requirements. Support preparation of test procedures including test facility selection, test design and fixture development. Ensure tests are conducted safely, successfully and on time in accordance with department/company procedures, H&S requirements, risk assessments and other safe working practices. Evaluate/interpret instrumentation data and test results, ensuring correct reduction techniques and analysis are used. Review and approve documentation (i.e. work instructions, procedures and reports) produced by the team. Provide first-line support for technical enquiries from members of the immediate team. Plan and support test engineers' project management through PMS system to maintain work packages and achieve established milestones. Mentor/coach and support professional development of engineers within the team, including holding regular reviews and annual appraisals with individuals. Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required to improve the efficiency and quality of processes within, and services provided by, the department.

You will have

To be successful as Environmental Test Team Lead you will have a good mix of the following:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Aeronautics or similar discipline
  • 1st or 2.1 from Russel Group/Redbrick University is desirable
  • OR equivalent gained through work experience – mechanical / aeronautics engineering
  • Leadership experience as a Supervisor, Team Lead or Manager of technical staff
  • Sound grounding in Health and Safety relating to test environment.
  • In depth knowledge of Test and Measurement Instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of signal processing and analysis.
  • Knowledge of Vibration and Climatic test techniques and systems
  • Extensive data analysis skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint tools.
  • Broad experience in conducting successful environmental tests and producing reports
  • Familiarity of military and civilian test standards including MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160 & Defence Standard 00-970.
  • Highly developed communication skills
