The Energy Manager job itself which is an exciting opportunity for an experienced energy manager/consultant/ to join this leading engineering and consulting company at the forefront of the energy and carbon reduction; based from Cardiff energy center of excellence or #WFH fully flexible home working for the right candidate.  

You will work within a growing New Energy Systems Department, reporting to the Head of Sustainability, collaborating with specialist consultants and engineers, SHEQ, facilities management stakeholders, external auditors, and potential technology suppliers.

Net Zero 2030: Sustainability Upgrades

  • Energy auditing of sustainability upgrade sites
  • Energy reduction opportunity identification (avoid, reduce, substitute)
  • Technology evaluation (fabric, efficiency, controls, renewables)
  • Business case development in line with stage-gate process
  • Engagement of contractors to attain quotations
  • Project management of Net Zero technology implementation

You will have

To be successful as Energy Manager your will have a healthy mix of the following:

  • Specific energy management, energy engineering or building services training Experience of working in a consultancy capacity to define stakeholder needs in relation to the structure of project delivery and information requirements during the lifecycle of the project.
  • An in-depth understanding of mechanical and electrical energy systems and solutions appropriate to consumption mitigation
  • Experience of consulting on energy management in the context of a programme of energy audits, monitoring & targeting solutions or the design of energy conservation measures
  • Experience in the identification and delivery of energy reduction projects
  • Possessing data analysis skills and experience of using these skills to understand and target appropriate energy saving opportunities
  • Experience of generating cost benefit analyses for energy projects and the verification of energy savings following project implementation
  • A broad understanding of the legislative environment surrounding energy efficiency, carbon emissions and the net zero transition
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication with technical specialists and senior stakeholders
  • Experience of design, installation or project management of mechanical or electrical engineering projects
  • Experience of energy or building services modelling packages (e.g. IES, TAS, Energy Pro)
  • Experience of independently managing projects and ensuring work is delivered as expected to a high standard within the allocated timeframe and budget

Plus, personal characteristics such as: Strong organisational skills, time management, communication skills, positive response to feedback, online research, clear written English, problem-solving ability, analytical skills and numeracy, the ability to build and maintain customer and other stakeholder relationships, resilient and responsive to change, strong situational judgment and risk management skills.
