The Senior Software Controls & Instrumentation Engineer (C&I) Engineer job itself where you will be responsible for developing systems and the preparation of control and instrument deliverables based on process specifications across the full project and product life-cycle. Includes development of designs and schematics, selection of components, development of all software aspects of the systems, selection of instrumentation, sub-contract manufacturing support & management, and installation and commissioning of control systems.
Working as part of a small cross discipline team, this hands-on position involves full exposure to design, development, testing and commissioning of operational units located in various locations. Drive and enthusiasm to gain an in-depth knowledge of pyrolysis is essential, combined with attention to detail and a proactive and methodical approach to problem solving. Must be a strong team player. More specifically:
- Overall responsibility for all Electrical, Control and Instrumentation activities across the business.
- Full project life-cycle work, developing PLC programs from scratch based on process specifications.
- Development of detailed specifications, datasheets, instrument lists, IO schedules, cable schedules, cable block diagrams, termination drawings, functional control specifications, cause & effect diagrams, cable/ladder layouts, cable routing drawings, bulk MTO's and material requisitions.
- Selection of instrumentation and electrical components.
- Development of all software aspects of the systems, including modifications to existing Siemens software scripts.
- Produce tender packages for suppliers to enable delivery of goods and services to the cost, schedule and quality as required by the project.
- Provide sub-contract manufacturing support & management.
- Provide installation, commissioning and troubleshooting support at client sites
- Support facilities engineering, operation and improvements of demonstration unit
- Provide technical support to the business development team as required, including input into OPEX models .
- Liaise with other disciplines and operations team in the execution of the work.
- Deliver technical evaluation of supplier tenders and detailed reviews of vendor deliverables.
- Ensure that all C&I design changes are captured by the change control process.
- Participate in conceptual and detailed design reviews, HAZIDs, HAZOPs and risk reviews.
- Support obsolescence management for clients and equipment.
- Appraising and interpreting client requirements to ensure that technical, legislative and commercial aspects are delivered on all projects.
- Management of client expectations.
You will have
As Senior Software Controls & Instrumentation Engineer (C&I) Engineer, you will have:
- Minimum HND, preferred if BEng/Meng degree in Control and Instrumentation Engineering or similar
- A demonstratable level of industrial experience in design, development and plant operations.
- Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
- Strong technical expertise with design and development of PLC systems (SCADA & HMI’s)
- Demonstrated experience of writing, modifying and interrogating Siemens software scripts
- Experience in Siemens software programming and interrogation is essential, Allen Bradley experience would be advantageous.
- Experience of working with safety systems.
- Good working knowledge of legislation, including ISO 12100, Machinery directive, ATEX, IEC 61508 etc.
- Self-sufficient, self-motivated and able to work within an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to all levels of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated strong problem solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail essential.
- Proficient with MS Word & Excel.
