The Business Development Director job itself where you will have overall responsibility for sales, marketing, and advertising activities. The role seeks to establish and maintain our position as the industry leader, setting us apart from competitors. You will be responsible for ensuring professional account management is provided to clients, making commercial recommendations and decisions on offered services, as well as setting out the company’s Sales Strategy using reliable business intelligence to identify gaps in existing markets as well as new target markets to expand our existing client portfolio. More specifically:

  • Responsible for all aspects of sales - formulating, delivering, and managing the sales strategy to increase turnover; Chairing sales meetings
  • Assisting with the development of our business plan; producing sales projections and market share estimates
  • Leading and delivering client liaison to develop customer relations, increase market share and sales revenue
  • Contacting and regular communications to potential clients. Supplying appropriate marketing materials depending on the potential needs of the client, arranging site visits
  • Managing all aspects of proposals including pricing; agreeing and compiling sales-related contracts; reviewing pricing and achieving margins; ensuring compliance with client contractual requirements
  • Maintaining the CRM to ensure correct, up-to-date client contact information is retained and accessible
  • Responsible for formulating and leading on the production of the annual marketing plans and managing the delivery of same; responsible for our online marketing presence
  • Writing letters, reports and case studies for digital or traditional media
  • Attending exhibitions and conferences; networking and meeting with potential clients at shows and following up on contacts made

You will have

To be successful as Business Development Director, you will have a healthy mix of the following:

  • Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Adept at negotiating sound business deals
  • Previous business development/sales experience in a similar role within an engineering or similar related field
  • Professional approach to work, adhering to best practice and providing a high-quality service to customers
  • Ability to work remotely, and from our HQ in Surrey alongside travel to client sites across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Salary circa £55k, negotiable dependent on skills and experience; additional benefits include an electric car scheme/Car Allowance; Pension; 22 days PLUS bank holidays increasing with each year’s service; working hours Mon-Fri; intensive product training on our products, processes, and services; remote/hybrid working as appropriate
