The Assistant Accountant job itself where you will assist the Accountant in ensuring adherence to financial policies & procedures.

More specifically:

• Processing Company payroll monthly • Creating new starter accounts on Focalpoint • Overall monitoring of staff pension contributions, submitting (with HR) data on a monthly basis to the Pension Provider • Daily cash reporting & posting • Weekly multi-currency bank reconciliations • Quarterly VAT returns preparation and reconciliation • Preparation & posting of monthly prepayments & accruals • Preparation & posting of monthly depreciation charge • Maintaining Fixed Asset register for the Group • Completing and maintaining company costings • Monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts • Completion of statutory surveys from the Office of National Statistics • Assisting purchase & sales ledger with month-end close procedures • Monthly intercompany reconciliations • Validating coding and post company expenses & purchase ledger invoices to accounting system • Ad hoc analysis as required • Assisting with Audit Preparation and collation of audit files • Identification and implementation of process improvements • Deputising for Accountant as required • Providing holiday and sickness cover for other team members

This is an office-based job with a working pattern of 37 hours per week: Mon – Thursday 8.30 am-5 pm and on Friday 8.30 am-4.30 pm

You will have

To be successful as Assistant Accountant you will possess a healthy mix of the following: 

• AAT Qualified or Equivalent ACCA/CIMA Qualification • Strong Excel skills • Working knowledge / recent experience of payroll and related HMRC legislation • Working knowledge / recent experience of VAT and related HMRC Legislation • High Attention to detail • Process improvement mindset • Focused and methodical approach to managing work • Strong time management skills & ability to prioritise • Analytical and logical problem-solving skills • Ability to work alone • Ability to think outside the box • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines • Clear communicator: written and verbal • Good team player • At least 2 Years experience in a similar role • Knowledge and experience of Access, Dimensions, Selectpay (desirable)
